In the News Review issue of August 6, we wrote about how Creative Kids Camp (CKC) youngsters worked with News Review staff. Wearing their press passes, they typed on typewriters, created stories, searched GNR archives, produced original artwork and had fun — and so did we. This week, the News Review is proud to present a kid-sized newspaper nestled within its own pages. See pages 8 and 9.
Authorship
The stories were penned by the older groups and are representative rather than selected as winners of some sort of competition. We have not subjected them to our strict editorial standards except where a missed syllable made them incomprehensible. The stories are all as they came, fresh from the minds of their creators. And if the spelling is splendidly cute or the word choice off in left field, well, whyever not?
Editorial Interference
In some cases, we have substituted for the photographs or graphics that were chosen to avoid copyright issues — while retaining what was intended.
We, in concert with CKC leadership, omitted stories concerning an unfortunate incident outside the Library though, of course, some of those stories were very lively and entertaining (if sometimes inaccurate) accounts of the fracas.
