Register to Vote by June 2

Deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation:
Tuesday, June 2

Primary Election Day: Tuesday, June 23

Maryland has a closed primary system, meaning voters registered with a political party may vote only in that party’s primary election. Voters who wish to participate in either the Democratic or Republican primary must update their party registration by the June 2 deadline. Register online through the Maryland State Board of Elections website using a Maryland ID or last four digits of a Social Security number. To register to vote in Maryland, individuals must be U.S. citizens and at least 16 years old. However, teens must be at least 18 years old by Election Day in November to vote.

Maryland also offers same-day voter registration during early voting, Thursday, June 11 to Thursday, June 18, and on Election Day for those who provide proof of address.
