The Greenbelt Aquatic & Fitness Center indoor pool remains on schedule to reopen no later than September 29, according to Andrew Phelan, assistant director of Recreation Facilities and Operations.
Phelan said there have been no significant setbacks to the indoor pool deck repair project, and he is confident the pool reopening will not be delayed. The outdoor pool will remain open for the full duration of the project.
In addition, repairs are underway to address a leak in the infant wading pool, which has long needed repair. The wading pool is an outdoor one, located in the corner closest to the Community Center.
The wading pool has operated intermittently for several years as a result of the leak, according to Phelan, but costs to repair it were lower than anticipated after the leak’s source was confirmed, allowing funds for the repair to finally be allocated.
