From New York With Love: Songs for Greenbelt’s 80th

The island of Manhattan may seem an unlikely place to go prospecting, but when it’s musical gold you’re after, Chris Cherry affirms that New York has the richest lode on Earth. The city’s performing arts coordinator recently ventured to the Big Apple in search of some hard-to-find songs for the upcoming Greenbelt Legacy 80th Anniversary program, Here To Stay: The Music of the Greenbelt Pioneers. At the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in Lincoln Center, Cherry found the songs he needed to complete the program. “The library houses hundreds of vintage Broadway scores, as well as thousands of pieces of sheet music organized From New York With Love: Songs for Greenbelt’s 80th by Rebekah Sutfin on microfilm b y y e a r , ” Cherry said. “It’s a treasure trove of American popular music.”  For much more on this story, click here.
