Greenbelt Joins National Night Out On August 2

On Tuesday August 2, the Greenbelt Police Department will spend at least some of the evening at play. They’ll be meeting with neighbors in Beltway Plaza and Franklin Park. They’ll have some food with neighbors in Greenbriar. They’ll laugh with the neighbors at Windsor Green. And they’ll enjoy a cold lemonade with neighbors at Huntington Ridge as well as many other neighborhoods in Greenbelt. National Night Out (NNO), which started 33 years ago, is an annual community-building campaign. It promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The goal, according to the NNO website Greenbelt Joins National Night Out On August 2 (natw.org), is to make neighborhoods safer and better places to live. This year the following groups and neighborhoods have registered to participate in Greenbelt: Roosevelt Center (Crescent Road and Southway), 6 to 9 p.m. Participants include the Greenbelt Federal Credit Union and Greenbelt Coop Pharmacy and Supermarket, Old Greenbelt Theatre, Greenbelt MakerSpace, Greenbelt CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). Greenbriar (7716-7718 Hanover Parkway), 6 to 8 p.m. Their events will be in the parking lots between the buildings. Beltway Plaza (6000 block Greenbelt Road), 5 to 9 p.m. in partnership with Franklin Park Apartments. The events will be held in the rear parking lot area. Windsor Green (7474 Frankfort Drive), 6 to 8 p.m. Their events are scheduled for the Community Center.
